an intergalactic interactive sonic experience

cd

Representatives from Planet ZyGort are traveling to Earth to promote their home planet’s most popular sport, m-ball.

m-ball is oddly familiar to human eyes - the ball is large and round and behaves much like an Earth ball, but when players move the ball, it makes magical music.

For two days only, join m-ball superstars in Grand Final festivities. Discover ZyGort’s popular sound-sport and become an instant, musical, sporting maestro.

m-ball is a free-play, interactive, musical instrument for both children and adults. Presented as a large inflatable ball and accompanied by live performers, participants are invited to interact and play m-ball together to create evolving soundscapes. m-ball encourages us to explore, discover, observe and share in the relationships between movement, music, play and sound.

Performance Location:

m-ball will be on the grass outside Artplay at Birrarung Marr. (Inside Artplay in inclement weather.)

Performance Dates:

Fri 28th September : 2 Sessions : 11am - 12pm and 1pm - 2pm
Saturday 29th September : 2 Sessions : 11am - 12pm and 1pm - 2pm

About:

m-ball is a free-play, interactive musical instrument for both children and adults. Presented as a large inflatable ball and accompanied by a live performer, participants are invited to interact and play m-ball together to create evolving soundscapes.

m-ball’s focus is on cooperative music making. Designed as an accessible musical instrument, this soft, colourful ball uses wireless motion sensors hidden inside, transmitting data triggered by the movement of the ball, which is translated into music, amplified by the surrounding sound system. As it is able to be played by many at the same time, m-ball encourages participants to explore, discover, observe and share in the relationships between movement, music and sound.
